Getting The Best Out Of This Site

About The Author

Hello!

My name is Robert Maddison and I live in the Northern Pennine hills of Northern England, in a small hamlet near the village of Allenheads. Now that my daughter and son have completed their university courses and have left home to live their own lives I live only with my wife Elizabeth in a cottage that is around 350 years old. Allenheads is one of the highest villages in England and a great place to live. I have a studio attached to my cottage where I paint and sell my paintings and photographs. It is in quite a picturesque setting with a waterfall out side of my front door.

I have been an artist all of my life and a photographer for three quarters of my life. I first took up photography in the early sixties as a “bag man” for a local wedding photographer. Weekend wedding jobs helped me to pay my way through art college. I started to use photography as I would use a sketch book. I wasn't at first interested in producing fine images, but more in recording things for later paintings. If digital photography had been around then things would have been a lot easier.

If you would like to see some of my paintings and photographs google Robert Maddison and you will be sent to one of my other web sites.

About This Site

This site is mainly dedicated to the person that is new to digital photography. I have written and selected articles that explain digital photography in as simple way as possible. If you are after information of a more advanced nature I do have other sites that you can find by googling my name in the search engines.

Digital photography is evolving at such a great pace that it is difficult to keep up with it. Information that was cutting edge a few months ago can be “old hat” now. Because of this it is difficult to keep a web site on digital photography up to date.

To get around this problem I have built the web site around articles, which I will be adding to but also I have introduced some software that will upload videos related to digital photography. These will come up in a random manner so some days that you come on to the site you will get possibly a dozen vids that will help you. The next time you may get nothing. Bookmark the page so that you can quickly pop in to see if there is anything for you.

I am not a great lover of adverts on websites, but if they are treated as a source for research then they can be quite helpful. Because of this, and the fact that it is difficult to keep up with modern trends I have included advertising on the pages. I must stress that I do not endorse any of the adverts
as I have not purchased any of the brands. These adverts are for to keep you up to date with recent trends, books, equipment and courses. Use them as resources. After all it costs nothing to look, and you may find advice or something that takes your fancy.

The best advice that I can give you is KEEP ON CLICKING.
